Friends No More

I think I've had just about enough of my good friend. I'm done with our friendship. I don't need some time to think about my decision. I'm not gonna change my decision tomorrow, next week, next month, nor a year from now. There's really nothing in this friendship for me. When all that's happening is that I'm doing everything for the other person, but get nothing in return, it's about time to call it quits. There really is some truth in the saying "Friendship is a two-way street". But apparently it's only been a one-way street in this friendship for the past several years.
She was my best of friend, but in the past several years...she's changed. She's become what I call a "stupid girl". She was someone that I admired back in the college days. Now...I do nothing but look down on her. I always knew what I was getting with her, but I guess if I'm not getting more out of my friends after all these years...it's time for me just to let go and move along. It's sad cuz I don't even have any thing good to say about her right now. I don't even have a shred of care about losing her as a friend.
I have so much positive things going on with my life as it is...I don't need to worry about selfish ppl. As busy as I am, I've always made time for friends, but when they give me the excuse..."I don't feel like it..."...well then...I don't feel like it either.

1st Annual Softball All-Star Game

It's so cool to be a part of history! No matter what happens, my name will always be associated with the company's first ever softball all-star game. It's written in stone. Well...actually it's written on a softball. I was on the winning team and for that we received a trophy that had a golden glove and a softball in that glove. We all signed our name on the ball and after that trophy goes around to each of the player, it'll be put in a trophy case that company will have to hold the trophy. As corny as things sounded when they first presented the idea of an all-star game, now it's an absolute thrill and success. So many ppl showed up to support the players. There were family and friends and co-workers that came out. For me, Illenny, Alejandro, and Mary came out to support. Everytime I think back at this event, they'll be forever burnt in my memory cuz it made it that more special that they came out to support me and Carlos, Gaby, and Billy.
So on to the game...it was North vs. South. We were on the South..."Shut Your South"...hahaha. That was our team name. North was "Blue Northern"...hmmm...I have no idea. I have no idea who came up with the names. All I know is that I was team captain cuz the coach sent me out for the coin toss. North called Heads, but the coin landed Tails and I called for "Home" being so that we can bat last. Ultimately it didn't matter. We won 24-20. Defensively, I played left field. I had a ball fly my way and was able to catch that for an out. That started the first out in the last inning. Glad I started things off...hehehe. I had a few grounders that passed up short stop and third, but other than that...it was pretty quiet out there in left field. Offensively, I did alright. I got on base, brought ppl home, and even scored myself, so I think it was a pretty complete game I had. Good to know that I played with the best of them. Just needed to feed that competitive ego of mine...hahaha.
I think win or lose, it was purely a great game. Everyone showed up to play and everyone had the desire to win. Competition was so strong that it really didn't matter who won. Of course winning the first ever was just cherries on top of the cake.
Many...I mean many...of us hung around till about 8 just chit chattin away and just mingling with each other. It was great! I got to meet many ppl that night. There were so much food too! The supporters were awesome for doing what they did. They cooked hotdogs for us. Had cookies and chips and plenty of drinks. Yes...even beer...hahaha.
Well...if next year I'm fortunate enough to make the all-star team, I wouldn't miss it for the world. I feel sorry for those that got chosen and didn't show up. There were about 3 ppl that didn't show up for our team. I pity them for missing out on so much fun. And if I don't make the team, I'm definitely there to show my support. I hope we've started a continuing tradition for the company. We actually received an email saying that this WILL be a tradition started, but I just hope it'll go on for a long time. I don't know why they hadn't started this before my time. But o well...I'm glad to be a part of history :)

Annual Pinic - Schlitterbahn Galveston

This past Sunday, my company held their annual spring picnic at Schlitterbahn Galveston. They closed the entire park for the company so it was great. Turn out was great and I had a great time. The park was a lil small, only about 20 acres and only 2 of 3 parks were open. But I think it worked out cuz it was large enough to have lots of fun and small enough that it was easy to find ppl.
I saw so many ppl there. Even helped out a lil girl who got separated from her family. We were on the lazy river and the river splitted, but we didn't make the split, so we had to continue to the next intersection where we finally met up with our group.
I'm a lil disappointed that I didn't get a better tan. I still have my farmers tan. I can't seem to get rid of this thing. I tried to layout, but still no luck. I started getting weezy around 5pm so I thought to sit out and work on my tan...but no luck. This sucks!
Well, all in all, it was great. I absolutely enjoyed this park. Now I can't wait for the one in New Braunfels. That comes up in Sept. It would be nice if the company can rent out the whole park, but that's highly unlikely cuz that place is so big. We'll have to share it with the public...sigh...

Undefeated Halfway Through

Our softball team now have an 8-0 record. We completely demolished our opponent today. Final score was 22-0. Very surprising because the team had the second best record and also knocked off the defending champions. It was a very scattered game. Our team was missing 4 of our players. We were missing a girl, so we were lucky that we were able to borrow a girl from a game before us. She was pretty good...especially hitting. But nevertheless, we had just enough to play defense...and what a heck of a defense we put up. Especially considering that we had to move players around and had guys playing positions that they don't normally play. Again, I got to play left field and only had one ball come my way and I was able to catch it to make the out. I normally play catcher, but lately another guy took over the spot cuz he's got bad knees and can't afford to run as much as I can, so lately I've been put in the outfield. I don't mind. I might be small, but I'm quick so I cover a lot of field. Plus, I haven't dropped any balls that came my way so they have complete confidence in me by now.
O...forgot to mention...I also had my first in-the-park homerun. For those that don't know...it's not a homerun where the ball goes over the fence...(I'm good, but I'm no where that good to get the ball that far...hahaha)...but instead, the ball stays in the field and I rounded the bases and made it home before the ball made it back to the infield. That was a cool feeling.
Next week...All-Star break and game! Can't wait! Food and beer after the game...woohoo!!!

Softball All-Star Selection

So the softball league that I'm in have decided to extend the season. There's a total of 8 teams and this is week 8. Tomorrow will be the last games played before the "All-Star" break and then the continuation of the season. Yes...as funny as that sounds, we will be having an "All-Star" break with an All-Star game next week. Not sure how the teams will match up, but each team is to select 2 to 3 guys and a girl to represent the team in this game. Unfortunately the girls on our team aren't all that good. They're great sports, but just not that good. So our team decided to send 3 guys instead. For whatever reason, I was one of the chosen. I know...the great mysteries in life. But to be honest...our team is full of good players. Any one of us could be chosen. We're like a team full of all-stars as it is. We each have our individual strengths. It's hard to say who's better than who. And I wouldn't want to be the one to have to make that comparison.
Well, nevertheless, I've been chosen to be in the All-Star game. I can't wait to see how I stand with the best of them. I'm sure I'll hold my own, but it's fun just to think about it. And it's a great feeling to know that your teammates hold you high on their list.

What a Game!

Man I feel good! Today was my basketball day. Yeah, I have days for certain sports I keep up with. Tuesdays are basketball days, football Wednesdays (whenever it does happen), and then Thursdays are softball days (just happens that most of our games fall on Thursdays.)
Today was awesome! We had 8 ppl that showed up, so we played 4 on 4. It was a lil crowded cuz it was only half court, but it was so much fun. I've played with this group twice before today and I've always had a bad game cuz they were all so much taller than me so I couldn't do much. But today, I finally got matched up against someone my size. And size for size, I'm pretty good. Our games were quick 7s today and we played about 5 games. In each of the 5 games, I had at least 3 of the 7 pts. 3 of the 5 games, I had the winning shot. 2 from behind the line and 1 on a tough runner. Gotta give the guy guarding me props...he had his hands all over the ball, but I toughed it out and got the shot off.
I guess it was so much fun for me cuz this is a new group of guys that I'm playing ball with and you kind of have to make yourself known on the courts. I hadn't done so the last 2 times around, but now I definitely made my mark on that court today. These guys are good too. True streetballers. What I'm used to. I'm such a driven competitor when it comes to sports. But all in all, I play mostly for the love of the game. Bad days or good days really don't bother me...as long as I get to play.
O...I forgot to mention, we won 4 of those 5 games :)

The Flaw in Blogging

I think there's a serious flaw in blogging. Ok...maybe not so serious, but definitely a flaw. This is only one man's opinion, so don't shoot me for it.
When I started this, I was thinking..."O cool...I can share this with my friends". But then the more I thought about it...it wasn't so cool. Here's why. Blogging is like a place where you can let your thoughts go without being punished for it, but sometimes when you let your thoughts go...negative things will come out. Whether that negativity is directly towards something silly or towards something serious, all I know is that if something negative is written about someone you know...and they happen to read it...you're going to be in some deep sh*t. It's easy to say..."well, just don't write anything about a person you know that will read this". But then what's the point of having a blog and sharing it with friends? Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe ppl write blogs only to share with strangers who don't know them so they won't be judged? I just can't see being completely open if you were to share this with friends and be completely honest in your opinions.
Well, with all that said, I hope none of my friends will read my blog because I'm sure I'll have some nasty things to say in the future if someone should piss me off enough. Other than that, I wouldn't waste my time.

Winning Effort

Well, this is my first post so let me start off with something exciting...well, at least to me it is...cuz I wouldn't want to start off on the wrong foot.
I'm in the second season of my company softball league and it's been well known that the defending champs have held the title for 4 of the last 5 years. That's not the thing that bothers me. The problem with them is that they talk smack throughout the year. I know...they have bragging rights...but c'mon! Not in the offseason. Let's just keep it in the game. I'm mean...this is a company thing after all. But the biggest thing of them all is that the coach of the team benches half of his players in the playoffs to bring in the sluggers cuz that's the only way they'll win. And the only reason I know about this is because some of the guys on that team quit cuz they were disguisted with the move cuz they showed up all season long and got the team to the playoffs and the guys that got to play, showed up about once or twice during the entire season. I think that's BS, but that's only one man's opinion.
Anyhow...it's our team objective to win it all this year. We did very good last year (my first season with my team). We fell short in the playoffs. This year, we're a lil more determined, but never losing focus on the fact we're just doing this for fun.
So we met the team today and kicked their azz, 18-11. I was 3 for 3 at the plate and scored twice so I was happy with my performance. This game really doesn't matter too much, but it will if we should meet them in the playoffs. Our bats were solid this week. We kept the ball low and ran the bases like a bull was chasing us. It was a great effort on all our parts.
K...guess I'm out for now.
